Unhappy Pearl Answer Key Not Working

Please Login to Remove!

For the last few weeks I have had an issue with my Pearl's answer key (the green key to the left of the trackball). I have to press it just right to get to the Call Log and to answer calls. I end up pushing in the trackball so that I make sure I do not miss a call. The key works sometimes, but it seems to be overly tempermental.

Anyone else had this issue?

There is not much to the keyboard and parts of it may not work, meaning certain keys may stick or not function.

Try a battery pull and reset first.

If that does not work, with the battery out press the answer key firmly a few times to work out any kinks.

There is nothing in the keyboard that is user accessible, the keys are inside a sealed rubber membrane. So if "massaging" the key does not work [nor the battery reset], call the carrier, explain the problem and get a new phone under warranty.

Bonus Comment: There used to be call lag from when pressing the answer key, to when the caller could hear you saying "hello." [About 4 seconds or so.] A workaround was to use the trackball to answer the phone.

I am not sure if the latest OS fixed the issue, but out of habit I always answer the phone by pressing the trackball. I find it easier to do and there are times when I want to press "ignore" the call, so that is easier to do if I am "already there at the trackball" to decide what to do, answer or ignore the call.
