Default Pearl Keeps Downloading old emails! How do I make it stop?!

Please Login to Remove!

My blackberry pearl ocasionally downloads hundreds of old emails overnight. I have no idea what causes this or how to stop it! They are all emails that it has downloaded before, and there doesn't appeal to be any rhyme or reason as to when it chooses to do this. Any thoughts?! Help!

I'm not sure what OS on BB - it's quite new, I just got it in May. So probably the most recent one. As for the email, it's definitely my law school email account, and then it might be redownloading my gmail account too, although I'm not sure. I've never checked, I just see them all in my combined message box...

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

That has happened once in several years with me--last Sat night. About 300 old emails from six months ago came piling in.
I don't think it is an OS issue, but rather likely a BIS gltich.

Ok, it is running v. 4.2.0.73 (Platform 2.2.0.41). Once every 6 months would be one thing but it's like every few weeks!
