Default SBC/AT&T Yahoo EMail

My BlackBerry used to receive email from my SBC (now AT&T) Yahoo EMail account (sbcglobal.net) nearly instantaneously. Recently, I had problems where the emails I had previously received (but not saved) were deleted from my BlackBerry. And now I don't receive the emails until typically 0-15 minutes after they are sent. I presume this change came with the upgrade of BIS. Is there some way to change this or is this out of my control? I now receive regular Yahoo! email nearly instantaneously, so it is just the AT&T Yahoo email.

Also, I used to be able to delete spam on the AT&T Yahoo Email account via my BB, where it would delete on the server, but I could still download the other emails to my computer. And once I download to the computer, they would still stay on my BlackBerry. That doesn't seem to be working anymore. There is an option on the T-Mobile BIS to synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device, this was checked and I believe that is why my old emails were deleted from my handheld (and I lost emails I hadn't downloaded, so I'm not sure what happened). Does the BIS setting over rule the BB device setting? If you are on BIS, do the options to reconcile on the BlackBerry itself have any effect? I don't want to check the box to synchronize deleted items between the mailbox with the device unless I am sure I won't lose the email on my BB. If it is set up as I would like, I should be able to check that and have the BB email reconciliation set to handheld overrides the mailbox.

Sorry for the lengthy post!

not an answer to your problem, but i am trying to set up my att/yahoo mail on my BB. how did you set it up? when i try to add it like i have added my other accounts (comcast) in the past it can't verify it. i don't want to forward it cause i want to leave the messages on the server so when i check email at home i will recieve it in outlook...

any help would be appreciated!

Interesting, because at one point my email was not working and when I went to fill in a blank password, I had that same verify problem. So I deleted the account on the BIS and just re-entered it -- put in my email address and password (twice) and the system did everything for me and my email was up and running again. Surprisingly, what emails were still on my BB were back after adding the account back.

I recently changed the pop address from pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com, which it set up automatically, to pop.att.yahoo.com and after saving that, I changed it to use SSL, with the hope that the emails would come faster. It didn't help. (By the way, I received some failure message when I tried to make both changes at the same time. I don't remember what it said.)

But on the bright side, it seems to be working now where if I delete an email on my BlackBerry, it deletes it on the server so I don't have to download it.

I hope some of this info helps.
