Default HELP. Problems setting up my boss's blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

My boss has given me the task of setting up and learning her blackberry phone so I can teach her. She has the Blackberry pearl from AT&T. We have the basics down but I'm having some problems:

1. I understand the new message and voice message indicators, but there's an indicator I dont know what it is...its a small planet with the number 1 beside it, what does this mean?

2. For some reason, there is no call log application to be found on the phone even though the Blackberry 101 sit says its supposed to be there.

3. The big one....

I set up two email accounts on her phone. One is a blackberry email address and the other is an aol account. For some reason, the messages that come in from the AOL account go into her XXX@aol folder and her Messages folder. Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks for the help!

1.) There is a browser message waiting to read. If you aren't expecting one I would just delete it.

2.) Go into the call log

Menu>Options>General Options>Phone List View (Set to Call Log)

3.) You have only one inbox but will get an icon with has a filter to show only those emails. If you want to view all messages in one box, hover over the icon and hit Menu> Hide Application (the icon will then not appear until you hit menu>show all.

*edit* I think there is a way to perhaps seperate the mailboxes completly but it's on a version later than mine and someone else will need to assist

All messages can be read and responded from the main inbox.

Hope that helps!

Default separating emails

on her application screen she has icons for each email account and the messages folder (where she gets text messages and copies of every email she gets)

im trying to set it up so that the emails DONT go to her messages folder and only go to the separate email account boxes

I have three e-mail accounts going to the Pearl. I have found over time [since the BB 7100 days] that I like all messages going into the one main messages box rather than into three separate boxes [and icons on the screen]. That's just a personal preference. Trust me, your boss will like as few clicks as possible to get things done on the Pearl.

Depending on how fancy or complex your boss wants to get, you can also set up each e-mail account to have a different audible tone for each e-mail address. For example, on my Yahoo I have that "yahooooooooo" guy sound off.

I have a tone for AOL, that "You've got mail" guy, if you want it.

In any event, she might like a different notifier/tone for each e-mail account so she can tell without looking at the display if it is important mail or not [e.g., when I get yahoo mail I know it is not a priority, so if it sounds off when in my pocket I am in no rush to check it.

There's other tips and tricks that will come over time. Read up on this site and you can tell the boss which features sound promising or interesting.

For now, tell her that the phone is very complex, so setting it up will take time. But the basics can be learned pretty quick.
