Separate inboxes for separate mail accounts

I'm brand new to blackberry, so excuse me for these basic questions. I'm coming from Windows Mobile, so my head is kind of working that way... just trying to figure out the best way to get all of this stuff working. I feel like I'm missing the philosophy about how to set everything up to work best.

I have a corporate email setup through BES/exchange and a gmail account. I'd like to have separate icons on the application screen and separate inboxes for both. I like to keep work life and personal life in different places. Is this possible?

Right now I have two icons on the main screen. When I choose 'Messages' I see my corp mail + gmail, and when I choose gmail, I see just gmail.

Why does checking my gmail entail the BES? Can't BB pearl just check gmail as regular POP? How would I set that up?

Many thanks. Feel free to let me know the best way to set this up, even if it's not in line with answering my questions.

All messages are received in your main inbox. When you set up a new account via BIS it will create an icon for it and the icon has a filter that views the main in box but filters anything that is not from that account. If you wish to hide the Icon for your gmail you can by hovering over it and hitting Menu>hide Icon.

As I stated in an earlier post I think some of the newer versions of the OS may allow you to store them seperately but I am not positive. Someone else will have to comment.

On your gmail. If it is a company issued device, it is their property and you should assume anything on it can be viewed. They cannot control inbound BIS messages but they can force all of your replies to those gmail messages to go through the BES server...

Ok. Is there a way to create a filtered mail box for my corporate email, and then hide the main messages folder?

I'm not too worried about the privacy issue... it's my device, I pay for the service, but it's connected to my company's BES so I can get my email, just seems simpler to have the bb check gmail directly than having all this weird account checking/forwarding going on.

You can get a direct GMAIL account on your BB - do A SEARCH here or on Google and there's an application / download that will set up GMAIL on the BB separately.

I just did this a day or so ago, but can't remember the link - try GMAIL on your BB Browser and I thinks the link for "get mobile Gmail" or something similar is there.

If you hit Menu>show all on the application menu does it list an icon for your work email? If so hover over it and hit Menu> and uncheck hide application. you can then proceed to hide the mail inbox. I am not sure if BES will make a hidden icon or not. I am using BIS and do have one for my main work account.

Good luck and be careful cause you never know who might be checking on your berry!

Nope the only hidden icons are 'Saved Messages' and 'Compose'.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely keep this in mind.
