#1 If the conversion ends with only a few lines of text, check and make sure your Jar file has no spaces in it. If it does, remove the spaces, remake the Jad file, and try again.

#2 If the DOS conversion ends and the program never says Conversion successful thats a problem. IF you've checked and made sure you have no spaces in the jar name then retry converting it with debug mode on. Then when the Dos prompt stops, copy and paste what is says and post it.

#3 Or you can just send the Jars to me and I can see what I can do. =P

Mmm... You made sure there are no spaces in the Jad and Jar? Is this for all of what youve tried to convert?

Glad you like it Zach

Hmm... Its very rare that this error would pop up. Is your save directory different from your blackberry jde directory and your jar directory? Maybe its a bad jar. If u want you can email me it, and I can see what I can do.

New Version 1.3 - Almost batch conversion. Its alot easier to convert multiple files at once to ALX. Im pretty sure this will be the last update you need for a while =D.

FWIW, you aren't converting the JAR into an ALX file, but rather the COD file (assuming that's what you're doing here). The ALX file would be similar to a JAD file or the Manifest file found within a standard JAR. It's simply an XML-based installation instructions file that is parsed for correct information for Application Loader to install the actual installation files (COD, etc). The COD file, by definition, is obfuscated JAR file.

Just some clarification.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Hi all,

I'm a total noob to Blackberrys. I have no problem converting the jad/jar files and transfering them to my Blackberry (7100i), but when I actually try to play the games, I get this error :

Error starting <game>:Class 'javax.microedition.media.PlayerListener' not found

What does this mean? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Your welcome,

New minor update 1.3.1
Fixing the majority of Freezing problems. And it Now tells you if Jars are incompatable with J2A.
More little stuff you all prolly wont notice.

If the program freezes it means one of two things. Either there were spaces in the Jar Name, or you were converting multiple Jar files from different directories.

It would be a nice prog, if when trying to install, the message "I/O ERROR 131".
As I understand the version is 1.31?
On 2 PCs (P III, Pentiom D) Win XP.

Ok. Just wanted to tell you that I've reuploaded both the zip and installer file of j2a. They are no longer corrupt and you can find them at the bottom of the creations page at BSCreations! - brandon.berryreview.com
Sorry for the complications.

I even tried selecting generic phone types on the web site (Java MIDP 1.0, MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.0, & MIDP 2.0/CLDC 1.1) and downloading each of the served up .jar files. Still nothing but conversion problems. More than just wanting a really good Tetris, I want to understand how all this dang sh*& works.

Having the same problems with Battleship and a few others.

I'm just getting to this message now, so let me read on a bit before everybody jumps on me and says "READ THE THREAD"! (Unless of course it is a different thread).

Okay I give, I got the files to generate but upon trying to load using the DM all I get is:

"A fatal error has occurred while updating your device's
software. Please try again.

Unspecified error encountered [J:0x0000000A]"

The Games I used are:
-------------------------
Battlehsip
Berry REview (Actually not sure what this was, but hey it was there it the JAR folder - so what the heck!
bomber
its'blackjack
xing_yathtzee
zelda

Tried with thier jads, and tired with ones created with jad maker.

0 for 4!

Plus I seem to get a program freeze instead of a normal program end.

Any have at least a hint on what game they tried that DID work?

I just want to see one KNOWN workable game so I can see where the problems lies.

7520 w/ OS 4.1 (highest, upgraded today)

Windows XP.

All BSC files were downloaded today.

Hmmm thats super odd. Imma attempt to help ya.

If you get the "No additional applications designed for your device were found" notice when you try to add the app, check down the list and make sure the app your trying to add is not already on the list. If it is, then uninstall it, remove from the list, and add the new one you just converted. As for that specific error, I never heard about nor seen it. Hopefully once you remove the apps from the list and re add that error will go away. I guess you can also download the newest version of DM but I run two different versions on my laptop and PC so that shouldnt really matter. I use J2A everyday to convert the game im designing for a jar to cod file, so theres no reason why this shouldnt be workin for you.

Brandon.

PS which jars cause the programs to freeze? If the berryreview one does. Then thats a problem, because it should be guaranteed to not freeze. If all else fails just send the files to me (mrulukai@gmail.com) and Ill try to convert them and give you the reasons why each file didnt convert. And last but not least, turn on debug mode to see what the command prompt window says. This can help you debug a conversion problem. Ok there...

the zipped file seems to be corrupt. it will not open. can you replace it? I need to get the "other" file necessary for the sw install.

thanks!

You dont need to have the blackberry JDE running, all you need is it to be installed. download the zip from bscreations.111mb.net extract all, run the exe and everything should go well from there. If your clicking the exe and nothing comes up, tell me which Windows OS you have, I havent tested on Vista yet.
