I saw a while ago that a company called seido (sp) released a replacement cover for the pearl so the speaker isn't covered. Does anyone have one of these and is it anygood. The speaker sounds muffled w/ the original cover, I usually just take it off when I listen to music. Any help/suggestions would be great
I have used the Seidio cover with speaker grill for months. It does improve the sound coming out of the speaker. But why anyone would want to listen to music out of that itty bitty speaker is beyond me.
Unless you are listening to 40's or 50's music and want to get true retro sound [meaning transistor radio crappy], I'd use ear or head phones instead.
You can buy the Seidio cover or you can simply drill some holes in your existing cover [that is what we used to do before Seidio came out with their cover].
Assuming drilling is out of the question, I won't go over how to do that [e.g., remove cover and drill holes, do not drill with the cover on the Pearl, duh].
A benefit of the Seidio cover is that the latching mechanism is beefier and stays put better than the OEM cover.
Bonus comment: Keep in mind that if you get some type of case or rubber skin that encloses the Pearl [either protection recommended] this will once again muffle the speaker since there is no case that I am aware of that comes with a speaker grill.
So if you get a case for the Pearl you are going to have to drill some holes in the back, where the speaker grill is; something to keep in mind.
