i need to do a master reset of my pearl so as I will be selling it

is a master reset able to be done without the SIM card ?

what is the best method to have it wiped ?

There's no such feature as "master reset" on the Pearl.
You can wipe all user data and effectively return the device to factory settings by doing a 'Wipe Handheld'.

Options > Security Options > General Settings > menu button > Wipe Handheld.

You'll also have to manually delete any third-party apps you've installed, as they will not be removed via 'Wipe Handheld'

You don't need the SIM card to do any of the above.
