Question Question Re: Back-up with DM

Please Login to Remove!

Hi:

I am trying to back-up my pearl prior to updating my OS to .101. At the end of the back-up, I keep getting a "Communication Error, The data was not recognized by the device" and it never completes the back-up.

Any ideas why this would happen and what can I do to fix it?

Also, do I have to use the Blackberry.ALX (for themes) that corresponds to the OS I am using? For instance, can I use the ALX file for OS .103 if my OS is .101 or .94?

Thanks in Advance

Have you tried a battery pull?

It would be a very bad idea to use a BlackBerry.alx from a different OS build. You should find a version for your OS here.

I did a battery pull, downgraded back to 4.2.1, still "data not recognized". It happens on the backup of PROFILE data only. HelmDawg, is that when urs happens?

I did a soft reset, uninstalled DM, re-installed and I am still getting the same error, which occurs when backing up Profiles????

Any takers on this one? I am reluctant to upgrade my OS because I may get this same error when backing up.

Are you using the latest version of Desktop Manager?

I am John. Using 4.4.2. To be quite honest, aside from OS upgrades, i've never backed up my BB. This issue probably existed before but its the first time I m noticing it.

Do you think I could still upgrade my OS regardless of this problem?
