can you send Pic, or text messages to any phone number with the blackberry messenger or does it have to be another blackberry device?

BB messenger is only blackberry to blackberry like PIN messages but in IM user interface instead of email like interface......uses data, so you are ok with TMO unlimited BB data plan add on. I have never sent pics or voice notes so don't know any details about that.

Pics:
Snap the picture in camera then hit the email button and select "send to messenger contact."

Voice note:
While in a BBMessenger conversation (with only one person,) press the menu key. Select Send voice note. Record the voice note then send it to your messenger contact.
