| Just got a Pearl, still can't get any sound to play Please Login to Remove! Hey guys, I came upon your forum when trying to find info on this problem. Unfortunately I haven't found anything that has fixed my problem yet, but maybe someone can help. I bought a BBPearl yesterday, after finally having to get a new phone after my Sony Ericsson. I wanted to stick with the Ericssons, but I can't find them for sale anymore in my area, so I decided to go for the Pearl. I definitely like how it works, and think it'll be excellent when I work out the kinks. As it says in my profile info, my carrier is AT&T. I didn't know about the whole separate data plan thing because the only person working at the place I bought it was a young girl who seemed too interested in sitting at her computer playing around on Facebook instead of actually helping anyone. I'm going to go set that up within the next few days, so it's no big deal. My only remaining problem is the sound. It's not just nudging the trackball causes the ringing to stop, it's that I have no sound at all, with the exception of beeping when I enter a number.
None of the songs that came with the phone will play, and my volume settings are fine. I know it's something wrong related to the speaker because the headphones that came with it plays the sound just fine. I can hear phone calls just fine, and the other person can hear me just fine. It's just any other sound playback doesn't work.
I do have a warranty in case the phone has to be replaced, but it could just be there's something else I have to do to fix this. I have pulled the battery, and held the power button for 30 seconds after pulling the battery. I'm not running the latest OS, which I plan on trying to upgrade later today, but I am running a newer OS than the one it came with. I found it thinking it was the latest, but today I found a newer one.
So, does anyone know of anything else I can try? Besides this problem I really do love this phone, but that's a pretty big problem for me. All the things I've read of other people's problems with this were with people who kept the phone in their pocket, but I've not have sound from the start, either through the media player or ringing. And, it plays through the headphones. Could it just be a bad speaker, or is there a fix for this? |
