Close all open Blackberry programs

You need to open C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader

Either delete or rename the file Vendor.XML

That will allow other vendors updates to be installed into the phone.

Did I miss it or am I the only one having a couple of issues?

1. There is constantly one missed call showing even with the call logs deleted.
2. I can not access company extensions that I have to spell when I am on a call.

Thanks for the input.

When you highlight the name, it's supposed to automatically show all the numbers underneath. Well, in 4.2.0.x systems it was lightning fast. With 4.2.1.x (I'm on .101), it became slow as hell (takes 1-2 seconds for numbers to appear).
I just upgraded to .107 and I've noticed it much slower now as well, which is strange because just about everything else seems faster. I use this method of dialing for almost every call so it's driving me nuts. Anyone have any insight on how to make this quicker? Or if not how to set a 'default' number for someone? Right now because of this delay I keep accidentally calling people's work number because I'm moving too fast for the pearl and it's not scrolling down before it registers the send key.

Two other issues I'm having with this release are:
1. Half the time I get a phone call or make a phone call my led stays stuck blue or green until I hang up or sometimes I have to go in and read messages after hanging up to get rid of it. Very very annoying, especially when it's dark out.

2. I can only use the phone as a bluetooth modem on my mac one time before having to pull the battery and reset the phone. If I don't it won't ever reconnect.

I'm thinking it may be time to down rev. If I do it seems that .71 or .73 is the most stable release to go back to?

I insist! I insist!! Resistance if futile. You will be assimilated.

Nah, if everything is working fine for you then there is no need to upgrade.

Tried searching, couldn't find it anywhere... does you Pearl have to be unlocked to use another carrier's OS? Thanks.

I am with you. I just sent an E-mail to a developer about this very problem. We can't even use our Blackberry to view Criminal Histories because the Browser has been broken since 4.2.0.64 on the Pearl and 4.2.0.### on the 8700. Even the new 8800 doesn't work and we discovered over the weekend we cant even view Election results because of the SAME web button select problem.

Like I mentioned earlier, I spoke to RIM, they told me 4.2.2.### was released in July to GSM/GPRS/EDGE carriers and I was informed YESTERDAY 4.3 is available NOW for CDMA carriers. Carriers just move SLOW.

Just got an 8310 in today and I gotta say this thing is "almost" perfect. All of our web apps WORK as it uses 4.2.2.176 and Spell Check for E-mail has become popular with the Blackberry Staff. I have over thirty 8100 users and three 8800 users wanting an 8310 now. Budget will allow January 1. I used the 8310 all day, and it is GREAT!! If AT&T would kill WiFi on the 8130 for a GPS, that phone would be perfect for me.

Yes, I know this comes up every once in awhile, but has there been any improvement in Bluetooth DUN in these later OS releases?

On phone conferencing with both AT&T and RIM as I type. They are *attempting* to work out how 4.2.2 will be released for the 8700, 8100 and 8800's or if RIM can slip it to me. I need it for all 3 devices for our software to work.

Will keep yall posted.

So when do we get 4.2.2 for the 8100? Nothing personal but I don't care about the other models.

Default Searching for Network... - 10-31-2007, 02:52 PM

I never noticed this before, but when I am in the Messages folder/list, it says "Searching for Network..." althought I am conneceted to the netwrok. When I go to the home screen it says AT&T or when I go to txt messages it says SMS & MMS...

Has anyone seen this before or experiencing the same thing? It is not causing a problem, but I am just curious.

That's been posted about several times in this thread. It's a known issue (at least here on the forums) that is just a nuisance issue.

RIM advised they will not issue a firmware to anyone other than a carrier and was very appologetic AT&T was not interested for whatever reason (they muted my portion) in solving our problems. I went through the usual we have 31 junk 8100 phones now, not including what the rest of the Law Enforcement world in Louisiana has. Then another appology.

Why not just downgrade back to 4.2.0.71. or .73. Those were both very stable OS's. If you don't need support for the 4Gb media cards, or don't care about splitting sms and email folders, there isn't a lot of reason to move to 4.2.1

4.2.0.64 was the last known working firmware on the 8100 for us. Some users use their phones as MP3 players and that functionality wasn't fixed until 4.2.1 as well as others that use bluetooth exclusively. My users will have to make a choice AND I have to find 4.2.0.64. I am sure one of the carriers has it available still. I have 4.2.0.69 and it didn't work either.

The 8800's never worked and the 8700's worked with whatever was before 4.2.0.377.

So, this issue came up between 4.2.0.64 and .69?? I never noticed. I'm sure 4.2.0.64 is still out there.

True, but FWIW, I had more memory issues with 4.2.1 on my Pearl than I did with 4.2.0. Dave is right, though, pull the battery often (even with TMo's latest.)

Using Opera Mini 3 solves our problem, I just feel carriers should release firmware soon after receipt.

It is believed AT&T will hold 4.2.2 for the 8130 as well as other new devices as a way of getting people to buy newer phones. I will either upgrade to the 8130 (when available....who needs WiFi on this device anyway) or give in to the 8310.

Just to confirm it works for any carrier.

I just installed the new OS without problem. The carrier I'm registered with is CLARO in the Dominican Republic.

A couple weeks ago, I upgraded both my Pearl and my husband's Pearl to v4.2.1.107. My husband has experienced no problems with the upgrade. I, on the other hand, can't get myFaves to work! The only thing I did differently was restore the Tmo List Theme on my phone.

Two problems with myFaves: (1) Main myFav icon stays big when I select other myFaves [not a big deal - I can live with that]; (2) When I select ANY myFav icon and press the green connect button, my call does not connect - my Call Log opens instead.

I've tried: (1) Soft Reset; (2) Battery Pull; (3) Resend service books; (4) Edit myFav contacts thru phone; (5) Edit myFav contacts thru T-Mobile website

P.S. I've been using these forums since I received my Pearl on 03/2007. I never registered for a username because I usually find the answers I'm looking for by doing a search. Now, I'm stumped...

Try upgrading to the latest OS, 4.2.1.108. It's at the top of the 8100 forum.
