Default deleting pre-installed pics and other programs

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my BB Pearl 8100 and would like to delete the myFavs icons but they are locked onto my phone as well as all the ringtones that come with it. How do you remove these?

It's not a simple operation. You need to install the Desktop Manager to your PC. Then download and install the OS installation package to your PC. Then you can open Desktop Manager and run Applicatin Loader and uncheck the items you don't want, i.e. demo video, etc.

However, the myfaves app is more difficult. It requires a change to the Blackberry.alx file.

open the blackberry.alx file with a text editor like wordpad

scroll until you see the following:

<!-- T-Mobile filesets -->
<fileset Colour="True" series="8100" Java="1.0">
<files>
net_rim_theme_100_240x260_b.cod
net_rim_bb_media_100_five_icon_library.cod
net_rim_tmo_five.cod
</files>
</fileset>
<fileset Colour="True" series="8100" Java="1.0">
<files>
net_rim_theme_114_240x260_b.cod
</files>
</fileset>

Remove the line in bold.

Good luck!!

JC's method will work. Or you can simply rename the following files in the java folder (search your computer for the files below): net_rim_bb_media_100_five_icon_library.cod, net_rim_tmo_five.cod.

Rename the .cod to .old and then rerun the apploader. You can do the same thing for the ringtones, but I forget what the name of the .cod file is.

Yep, that works too! Thanks Spamdumpster! That's probably much easier.
