I wanted to upgrade my blackberry to the new os version. so while I was upgrading it, I accidentally click cancel while it was on the process of upgrading and my computer suddenly hanged up so I had to restart it. When I checked my phone it was off but theres a red light that keeps on blinking and I did everything alread like, took out the battery, sim, media card. but it still wont turn on.

is my phone broken already???

i tried the command window (DOS) and I do not know how to change the directory.

is says " the system cannot find the specified path" or something like that.

I just type that right and hit enter?

Mine was serioulsy bricked the other day and all I could get was a blinking redlight and the computer would not even recognize the device when I connected it. I am a hard core tech guy and I was just about ready to toss it after much struggle. I finally got my computer to recognize it and reload the OS by simply pulling the battery out prior to connecting it to the computer and then when it was reinitializing after the firmware load, I put the battery back in while it was still connected. Aslo, make sure you pull out any SD card as well.

Yep, sometimes it is necessary to remove the battery while using the links JSanders provided above.

To change directories in DOS

Type cd.. to backup one level.

From c:/
type cd program files <enter>
and you'll have
c:/program files

Continue doing so until you get to the directory you want.

I have this problem and I tried JlCmder and it didn't work, and then I tried the instructions for what to do if it doesn't work, and I got "unable to reconnect to the device during a multi-stage load operation." It just goes back to the red flashing light when it's all done. I'm out of options...

I had this same issue... I took it into my AT&T store for their tech guy to look at... he couldn't fix it! I had to send it back (under my warranty). Thank goodness I had everything backed up. The only thing that was a pain was getting new Key codes for some of my software... that was a week ago and all is well. Um... I didn't try to reload the new OS again... I'll stick w/ the latest AT&T one.

THANK YOU GOD... I almost killed a user's blackberry, and this saved me...

The weird thing is that my computer recognizes the blackberry when I plug it in to the USB cable, but Desktop Manager can't see it...

Hi I've read these instructions carefully and followed them. I still cant connect, the only thing happens is that as soon as i put the battery back in, the light on the phone stays red for a while then goes into the blinking stage with nothing on the screen.

prior to the problem i had the long spinning hour glass problem, when i connected app. loader to reprogram the phone, it had a password. I didnt remember it so i entered the password wrong 10 times to wipe it. while wiping the computer went off and every since im having the red light steady for a while and then it starts to bilnk. it cannot connect to the pc at all, it just doesnt recognize it.
