Default Initilization Error

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having trouble with a Pearl I bought. When turning on the radio, the BB will not connect to any network. It says "Initilization Failed". I did a search of the entire forum for this error and came up with a thread from a person who had this same error on a 7230. The answer he was given was to reconnect to BES and this failure message will go away. I tried removing the IT policy since I do not use BES but it didn't solve the problem. Anyone know if connecting to BES is absolutely necessary to fix this? Thanks.

Connecting to a BES is NOT required for the network. You could try the old 'remove/reinsert' battery to perform a hard reboot, or to try registering the device to the network (Options / Advanced Options / Host Routing Table - click menu and click Register Now).

If all else fails, it might help to reload the OS. You can follow these instructions for that:

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try. I'm very familiar with the OS reload, just didn't occur to try that

Haven't seen this message before. Have you tried removing the sim card ,as well, and then putting it all back together? Or better yet, do you have another sim card to try?

Yes I have. Tried a T-Mobile SIM and a Cingular one as well.

FWIW, here's the thread I mentioned earlier
