Default 4..2.1.107 : To update or Not to Update

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everyone,

This has been talked about many times and also there is a Sticky Topic for this ,still want to know some more details.

TMO's new version 4..2.1.107.I have read the responses in the sticky thread and the opinions are different.

I am new user and have 4.2.0.64 on my BB and want to know form U Masters if i should i update it or not.

I have not received any droppede calls issue so far and also multi tap issue which is being discussed again and again but its too early for me to say anything about it.

overall is it a good OS to upgrade or shall i keep the old one.

Thanks
Zaveed

If you have no issues with the OS you have then there's no need to update.

Thanks for the response John,

The Only feature i am missing right now is Adjust Auto Backlight, which is started to irritate me.

Will wait for some more time and see.

It's all personal preference. You could find that after using the old OS, then bumping up to the latest is a great upgrade, and you'll notice many changes.

I agree with John Clark though, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I heard that .64 had the memory leak issue though. I'm on .94 and it is rock solid! I would suggest at least getting .71 .

In a sense, they ALL have a memory leak if you allow your free RAM to get out of control.

I've lost call logs and emails using .107, so.....those issues are not completely gone.

I had .64 and upgraded to .107. One of the nicest features is the inclusion of "Desktop View" in the browser. This introduces a horizontal scroll bar. Also, when using "Page Overview" you can see the entire web page and zoom in on the section you want.

I say stick with .64 (I'm going back). The only "issue" with that was the backlight display. I read about way more issues with the next 2 OS from Tmob.

I actually recommend 4.2.0.71. It was even smoother than .64.

Also have one more question.

I am in india and there is only oen provider here but i do not want to install that version.

I Checked this Page BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ and there are list of providers and their downloads but is there any huge difference from one provider to another.

Can you guys recommend which providers update is the best if i want to install 4.2.0.71.

The 4.2.0.71 version is the same no matter which carrier offers it for download.
