Default Did you know that a pearl knacks if you drop it in a river

So i've had to buy a new pearl (forgot to take insurance option when i got the first one).

Before i go ahead and plug the new spangly one into the pc, could some wise soul offer advice on the following:

My last pearl was a pain, until i spoke with someone in Singapore on the tech desk, who downloaded the latest software which sorted everything out - my question is this:

Will the latest software already be on my desktop, so when i connect the pearl for the first time, it will just upload it to the phone.

How do i check what software is currently on the phone i have just received, and whether it is the latest.

I have a load of addresses/phone numbers on the phone, but when i sync the phone, it doesn't send them all over to outlook - why is this.

I am so sorry for being an tech problem only poster, but your help is appreciated.

Smatty

Smatty, check your current OS on the phone at Options > About. Usually the third line down is "v.4.2xxxx". What does yours say?

Compare that OS version with this Sticky Note at the top of the 8100 Forum"
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...2-1-107-a.html

Since we don't know what version you have your desktop from the previous Pearl, we don't know if it will update to your BB automatically. If it is a higher version number, it will offer to update.

To make sure your address contacts ON the BB sync to your Outlook, make sure you have the Configure Sync setup correctly:
Synchronize >
Configuration >
Configure Sync >

Make sure the arrows are bi-directional, between all four apps (Address Book, Calendar, MemoPad and Tasks). If not, highlight on the one(s) needed to configure, and click
Choose >
Highlight over Microsoft Outlook >
Click the radio button to Synchronize.

I hope that helps.

Yes, update your Desktop Software, as I mentioned above in post #4.

You are welcome, I hope it goes well, no glitches.
When you update the OS, follow the instructions exactly as written.
