Default Just got my 8100t, Few noob Questions

Please Login to Remove!

So I just got my 8100t on T-mobile, and It's excellent. I searched blackberryfaq.com for some of my questions, but i still need a few answered and I was hoping you all could help me out:

1. How do I import my contacts from my computer? I have them in a .txt format as well as in outlook, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get this thing set up.
2. How do I set up an internet email account for my BB? Tmobile gives you a guide, but it's not helpful at all because the menus they are telling you to go to don't exist?

Sorry for the noob questions, I just really want to get up and running.

Thanks in advance!

Install Desktop manager on your PC. Configure the Outlook Sync for contacts and press the synch button.

For email see

Good Luck and enjoy your new device!

Kyle- I'm new myself, but sometimes the experienced shoot over our heads so maybe I can help because I'm such a neophyte and can relate.

First make sure your software is installed that came with the unit, and you see BB desktop mgr icon. Click it.

Attach the 8100 to a USB port and see if it connects, (you'll see some text at the bottom going "working" and hopefully it soon says the magic word "connected, " if it doesn't then ya got whole bunch of other problems and you'll need to come back here and ask the bigtime BB guys what do do next.

If you get a good connection you're halfway there.

Click sync device.

tab the configuration tab

tab configure sync

check the stuff you want to sync like memo pad, address book etc

click the address tab off to the side, where it says "choose"

Now you see a whole bunch of PIM software just scroll till you see Microsoft Outlook and click it. Don't confuse THAT software with Outlook Express app cos it won't work if your PC is holding the Outlook only software. (don't ask me how I know that)

Close all that stuff out and see what happens.

2.- I found the set up wizard thing on the phone does a pretty good job of walking ya through the email thing. Make sure you have the correct data plan or you won't get far. You do have that dontcha?

Let us know how ya come out.
