I notices that every so often my coverage LED stops blinking and I can only get it back on by turning the device off and then back on again, pull battery or goto options and set the setting to off, save it and then set it back on again and save it again. It is quite annoying. Is my pearl defective? Is there a permanent solution? For what it is worth I am using OS version .64 that it came with at time of purchase

Default It's annoying, I know...

dwp1975, you're right, it is definitely annoying. but it's something i learned to live with on my 7100i (Nextel) and now with my 8100 (Tmo). i've never seen anyone mention how to "fix" it.

Is this the green coverage indicator? One work around if it's that annoying is to turn it off. Menu>options>Screen/Keyboard LED Coverage Indicator = OFF.
I actually prefer this because when the blinking catches my eye I know there is activity on the handheld.

You misunderstood me, what is annoying is that it stops blinking for no reason. I want the led to blink

It happens to me once in a while. My quick fix is to go into options, screen/keyboard and turn off LED Coverage Indicator, save and then turn it back on. Maybe it's a bug?
