Default Micro SD card upgrade

I want to use a 2gb micro SD card in place of the existing card that comes with my BB. Will I have to copy data from the existing memory card?

your pearl came with a micro? Most BB's only come with a SIM card which is the identifier card. Most likely you can just insert the Micro SD card and be fine. Otherwise you can backup the micro SD through the windows software.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Yes, enable mass storage on the card, copy everything off the old and move it back on to the new.

It's normal to see slightly less than the advertised 2Gb due to system files, etc.. On a 4Gb card you only see about 3.7Gb. There are technical explanations in several places on the forums about the actual sizes of bits and bytes (it's actually smaller than 2Gb) ..yada yada yada... but bottom line, it's normal.

yeah you never get your full value out of memory. 120 gig harddrives usually come out at about 116gb. Combination of having system files on there and also the difference between base 1024 and base 1000.

There was a time when one of the bigger hdd manufatures was sued because they were not displaying the proper amount of space on the drive meaning a 300gb is only 289gm once formated! they had to give up alot of money for that one! Sorry to get off topic! If you transfer any files I suggest doing it all through windows meaning you plug your card into a usb reader transfer to the hdd and then insert your new card and transfer back. If you use the BB it is only usb 1.0 and takes forever!

I bought a One Gig At walmart for like 25$.. IDK why you'd need more then that, I have like 10 FUll music videos on my phone compressed from 30-50mb to 5-9MB each... I mean, i guess if you were going to put full movies on your Micro SD then get a bigger one, but i dont know of another reason..

Weird,. Walmarts MICRO SD was like 25$ for 1 gig and 70$ for a 2gig, i was like,. what? lol. (same brand btw)

You can only put about 4 full movies on a 1Gb card. There are lots of reasons for needing a bigger card.

There are a lot better deals on cards than at WalMart. I paid $70 for a 4Gb card. And already that price is now quite high. They are even less than that now.

I didn't buy the 4Gb card at WalMart....

Stay away from Limewire if you like a functional PC. The movies have to be encoded from one format to another. It takes more time than I have but many people like to do it.

Just bought a 2gb micro sd card from circuit city because they price match and the total for the card $21.56. And getting movies to your BB is not that hard you just need DVD Decrypter and BB video! IT takes about 45 min to an hour to do the whole process. I am thinking about doing my whole vid collection which consist of about 800 movies. Maybe setting something where some one can DL for a small fee?

I knew there was a reason nobody has done it! It makes me wonder scalping tickets is illegal but you can buy them on ebay all day long!
