Default My pearl is going crazy! How do I get a new one? I won it in a raffle! Please help!

Please Login to Remove!

Im getting random protocall errors daily, screen goes black, Pearl wont charge unless I plug it in and un plug it a few times, I dont get texts, I dont get calls, and the ear speaker doesnt work.

The problem is that I won the Pearl in a raffle! Can I take it to any store and have it replaced under warrenty?

What can I do? I have cingular and it was a T-mobile phone. Do I need to call cingular and they can send me a new one under the 1 year manufacturers? Or do I call T-mobile since its a T-mo phone? Or can I go to a T-mo store?

What can I do here guys?

Its only 8 months old and my girl friend thinks im just ignoring her, I need a new cell asap!

Thanks a ton!

It sounds like you could be SOL, but I would suggest calling T-Mobile, then RIM.

I suggest doing a backup before it dies permanently so when you get a new one you can move your "life" back to the new one.

Well theres no way I can justify spending $300 on a new pearl. My contract with cingular ends soon and the company im with will give me a verison contract. But if I can get a new pearl Ill stick with my cingular plan.

Who should I see about a replacement? I actually backed her up yesterday

BTW: My life includes just about EVERY lecture I have had in school so far. thats about 4 years of pre-med. Broken down by class and topic. I like being able to access any particular lecture when Im having a mind blank.

You aren't going to get anywhere with TMobile since you aren't a TMobile company. You may get somewhere with Cingular but it's doubtful. RIM doesn't warranty the phones to the end user. So, you are out there in no-man's land. However, I would start with your own carrier.

I am guessing that you unlock the T-mobile Blackberry 8100 Pearl so you can use it on AT&T (Cingular) right?

If not, that's one of your problems already.

Well, if you got insurance from AT&T than you can get a replacement for the phone under your insurance.

If not, I suggest calling RIM to see if you can replace the phone.

Well Ill try cingular. I have had the phone unlocked last Jan. and have been using it trouble free since then.

Cingular will not offer insurance on PDA devices I know that already. I asked them about it a few months ago.

I guess I have to try cingular on tuesday. If my girl friend doesnt kill me by then.

Thanks guys!

Call RIM. AT&T can't warranty equipment that wasn't made for them. All providers are like that. RIM can send an RMA.

Not true. RIM won't warranty the device except through the carrier. Some (not all) carriers will warranty a device with a similar model.

This is the second thread I've seen with MFTP. What does it mean? I googled it, but didn't find anything.

So in case I have to go about calling RIM does anoyone have a number I could try. I did a super quick search but couldnt find a tech support line.

I thought that the actual pearl was covered under warrenty through the maker. Wouldnt RIM offer a warrenty against manufacture defects?

Thanks

1 877 BLK BERR (I am not kidding; that is RIM Technical Support).

You didn't buy it from RIM. There is nothing for them to warrant. The carriers handle the warranty.

lol thats too funny!

I just figured they could tell me who is responsible for my Pearl without a doubt. I would like to have the info from them in case cingular tries to give me a run around.

Well thats not ENTIRELY true... The carriers handle the claims but the warranty is technically through the manufacturer.

To be honest I think that you aren't going to find much support on that device since you won it in a raffle. It's unlikely that anyone is going to take respoinsibility for it. Your best bet is to either get a new device or just but a used one somewhere else.

And calling RIM is a good place to start, but be careful. I believe that they charge for their tech support calls.

Wirelessly posted (BB 8860: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Its the same as saying you can't get a blackberry from RIM. You only get them from the carriers. They obviously come from RIM, you just get them through the carriers. Warranty is the same way.

Well I actually went directly to the local Cingular Repair center and they told me without hesitation that it was the responsibility of RIM to cover the Pearl Under their 1 year man. warr.

Then he tried to sell me an I-phone. I told him I would rather carry my pager and PSP.
