I don't have the box with me, but no, it doesn't come preinstalled. It's possible they mean that it is possible with 3rd party software, such as Ramble IM.

T-Mobile has the OZ application installed. It allows AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN. I believe it uses text messages rather than your data plan. If you have unlimited text messages, and don't use IM alot, it is sufficient. If not, go with Jivetalk; it is the best IM program for BB's

It loads over the air upon connection to the network. Some devices you have to manually download, but on the pearl once you get a data connection it will start to come down and ask you if you would like to let it act as a server.

Yes, and you're done.

All tmobile pearls come with AIM from OZ. But it is text based not data. And very slow. However, sprint blackberry users can get AIM from blackberry.com/aim

Can someone from sprint get that, do a backup, and post the alx somewhere so people on other networks can get it to work. Please?

I tried blackberry.com/aim on my 8800 and always get an HTTP Error 500 on clicking the download button. Very annoying
