Default Opera-Mini Problem leads to Google Maps Problem?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello. I have one of the red pearls, and love the thing.

I have both the Opera Mini app and Google Maps app on my phone. I went to use my Opera Mini browser to look something up on IMDB, which I presumably do all the time, and as it was loading one of the film pages, an error message pops up. This happens occasionally with a "blip" in the connection, and can usually just hit reload on my phone and it will fix the problem. This time however, the top and bottom of the screen went black, making it look like a widescreen picture. I then attempted to use the menu, and all the options were blacked out. I then proceeded to close down the app, and restart it... same thing.

So I said no big deal, and since I had done a backup a few months ago, I just restored my phone to how it was back in June. Opera Mini now works normally.

A few days later, I go to use the Google Maps app, enter an address and try to get it to connect, and it gets a pop up now that says:

"Network Unavailable. This application requires a data connection, and will retry automatically. In the meantime, please check your signal strength."

I have a BIS and had been able to use every app on my phone (Beamberry, BB411, Opera Mini, Google Maps, G-Mail, and regular email) prior to the Opera Mini crash.

On top of Google Maps not working anymore, my Blackberry 411 is erroring out at times, saying "Bad DNS address." Also, my hotmail email is not updating to the phone at all anymore.

Can anyone offer any suggestions? Opera is running perfectly now, so I know the internet is fine... should I do a device wipe and just re-insall everything? Or should I try to uninstall the malfunctioning apps (Blackberry 411, Google Maps) and re-install first?

Thanks in advance.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Here's what I would do....

Load it up in DM, go to switch device wizard, back up your stuff, and upgrade your OS. That way you'll be up to date. Then restore your stuff. Make sure that you have the correct settings under TCP in advanced options. Also, make sure you delete and get the new opera mini (they are @ 4 beta) and google maps (1,6.1). Have any more questions, either comment back on here. Or PIN me. pin:23ef1e3d
