Do you think you need your OS updated?

Honestly, if everything is operating fine on your 8100, there may not be a need to do so.

Otherwise, here is a link to the instructions, please follow them exactly as written.

Good luck--AND welcome to the Forums.

My myfaves display is freaking out, and Ive had customer service update my faves from their end, and Ive done it from mytmobile, as well, and got no results.

A friend reccommended that I update the OS, in order to solve the issue, instead of a Master Reset.

I have the .64 OS currently on my 8100.

Well do this, first, if you have not.... Pull the battery, while the BB is powered on, and reboot the BB. That IS a master or hard reset on a BlackBerry.

The only thing further you can do is reload or upgrade the OS as you asked.

And the reason I am cautious is there have been some bugs with the latest version of the OS (.107). Some have been fine with it, some find it flakey.

Default Removing your battery while powered on

is actually not a master reset. I was refering to a master reset, wiping your handheld, and restoring 100% of your "Factory Settings"

All that a Wipe will do is remove your personal data (address book, mail messages, settings, etc.)

Make sure you back up your device before you do anything!

Do you know if a Update willl do anything for the "freezing" and slow-ness I experience on my BB?

Not sure what "freezing" issues you are having. The new OS is supposed to fix the myfaves issues. However, if you are a multi-tapper you will not like the new OS. You also won't like it if you use Bluetooth GPS.

What do you mean by multi tapper?

The freezing issues that I am having, are mostly when I am in my inbox, for messages. The hour glass icon will spin, and spin, and spin... and do nothing.

And eventually it is so bad I need to take the battery out to get the phone to reset... and "unfreeze"

MultiTap vs SureType. If you don't know what it is, you are probably using SureType (where you type the word out and accept the BB's guess at the word).

If one of the things JC mentioned is not important, update the OS.

Haha. Well Michelle.. I'm glad you figured how to properly find your way to the forums. Sorry I was such a bugger this morning, I was stressed out on the way to a training.

It's a good OS except for the two issues I mentioned above. You'll also be able to use the large 4Gb (and up?) SD cards in the Pearl with 4.2.1.107. I use GPS alot and if it weren't for the 4Gb card support I would have downgraded due to the GPS problems.

Good luck!
