Default Does anyone have insurance on their pearl with ATT

I called AT&T and requested to add the insurance plan to my Pearl and they said they will not insure the pearl. This doesn't sound right to me. If they only insure the cheap-o phones whats the point?

many carriers don't insure smartphones. Even if they do it's $5 a month and $100 or more dedutible anyway. Many feel it's not worth it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I insure my pearl from t-mobile and the deductable is $110, whereas my blackberry on verizon has only a $50 deductable

And what does this insurance cover? Sounds like it may not be worth paying monthly?

I paid for the insurance up front when I bought the phone, through the AT&T store. It was $119, but a one time use only. I did have to use it, because I lost my phone. It took a couple days, but I got a new Pearl at no extra cost. Now, I did ask the question: What happens if this happens again? The guy at the store said: New Pearl $300. So, I bought the insurance again at $119. I did ask AT&T customer service, but they don't offer insurance on the phone.
