Default email issues with pearl?

Hi, i just reactivated my data plan and set up my email account using "Email settings". [email address] is the email account set for my device, however when i go to "messages" and push the menu key to "compose email", i receive an error message stating: "No message services configured. you will only be able to save draft."

i've already tried
options>advanced options> Host Routing Table > (menu) register now

can anyone help me out?

Go to Rogers BIS website and resend the service books.

Then pull the battery to reboot.
