Default Can't disable annoying "minute minder"

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I've googled, searched this forum, and spoke to my carrier (ATT/Cingular) regarding this problem to no avail.

While talking on my BB Pearl, I get an audible "beep" every minute. This "minute minder" is a feature on many cells, but I find it annoying. I've spent the last 3 hours scouring the 'net for a way to disable this function. It's driving me insane. Anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. I took it back to the T-Mobile store and they fixed it! I'm not sure how they did it though...sorry!

Thanks for the response, at least this gives me some hope. I just can't believe ATT couldn't help me, referred me to the BB site, and I couldn't find an answer there. I'm just hoping one of the BB pros have an answer for me before I lose my mind...

I suspect it's not a bb function, but a telco function. Ie. if you put your SIM in another non-bb phone, does it still do the same thing? Usually the telco needs to enter a code to disable, so I'd call ATT and ask them to fix it. And if the first person you talk to in tech support can't answer your question, call back and see if the next person can.

Thanks svines. I haven't tried the sim in another phone for this purpose, but good idea. ATT said my BB sim wouldn't work in another phone, but it does- that's how I transferred my address book. I was intending to call ATT again later; the rep I spoke to COULDN'T FIND THE # TO THE BB TECHS yesterday, that why she referred me to the BB site. Grrr... Only reason I'm not trying the sim swap now, is, I don't want to wake up the kids by calling myself- this is about the only peaceful time of day on the weekends for me, lol.

I just can't believe there isn't a manual way of doing it, as I've had that ability with every cell I've had.

Default update

Called ATT again, found a helpful rep. Still, she couldn't find anything to solve my problem. Just for the heck of it, she asked me to do a soft-reset (taking battery out while cell was still on), in hopes that this would put the phone back into the factory default settings- a kind of "let's kick it, and see what happens" fix. Anyway, I took some calls while outside, and didn't hear a beep, but that could have been because of the ambient noise; just posting this, as this solution may work for someone else. I'm not 100% sure my problem went away- I think my friends are getting annoyed with me by asking if they could hold for 2 mins while I test my phone, lol.

There is no setting on a BB for a minute minder tone.

Guess that explains why I and the rep couldn't find anything on it, lol. Weird thing is, when it drove me most crazy, I was speaking to 3 different people yesterday. Of the 3 I spoke to, 1 was a lawyer, who *probably* was recording me, rat ******* that she is, and the other 2 were family members where I never noticed a beep. Despite it being legal to record in my state, I know many phones with recording capabilities will still send out a beep as an alert to the other caller, and there's no way to disable that (had a couple of phones like that). So maybe it was the people I was speaking to, and it was THEIR phones sending out the beep. But I wonder about the poster above, who said he had his phone disabled at the store. Oh, well, if this is the case, then I can stop obsessing about it. Thanks.
