Default Cannot use media card as mass storage device

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having a problem with XP being unable to find my media card. I upgraded to the 107 OS a day ago so I don't know if that is the problem. I used to see the storage device in My Computer but I can't anymore after I connect the Pearl to the PC using USB. Media card support and mass storage mode support are both on. What gives?

Hi,

Go to Tools > Option>Advanced Options and then check the option Auto Enable Mass Storage When Connected > change it to Prompt if you want to be prompted or Yes so that it will automatically detect it and you can use the card.

That feature was on also, but I'm still getting the same problem.

It is most likely an issue with the PC (O.S. XP) wants to assign the lowest available drive letter to the Mass Storage Device. If you have network drives mapped it may not work. Un-map the drives and see if it will recognize it.

Drive letter assignments are the usual culprit. However, if it worked before the upgrade and not after, that might not be the problem.

Hey that works! Thank you. John, I was using a different PC before. Sorry I didn't specify.

I'm having a similar problem. I have my micro-SD card in and mass storage mode enabled but it my BB still says "The media card is not available b/c Mass Storage Mode is currently in use" and I cannot open it and add anything to it in the BB Desktop Media Manager -- ???

Please advise -- thanks

While plugged into the computer you won't be able to access the card from the device or from the Media Manager. You should be able to access it from My Computer as a removable drive. If you disable mass storage mode you can access it from media manager but not from my computer. Hope that makes sense.

Default Thanks!

Awesome! Exploring My Computer and finding it as Removable Drive and dragging and dropping this way worked like a charm and is immensely easier -- thanks a lot John Clark!

Not sure I understand the purpose of Media Manager then???
