Default A Very Interesting Problem. (Help Needed)

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everyone, Im not sure if you remember me, but im back.

Here is the problem im having with my Blackberry Pearl.

When i Call Someone, or when i recieve a call i cant hear anything they are saying. No its not because i need a hearing aid. It seems to be some type of issue. I can only hear them if i put them on speaker. Interesting huh? So as it stands right now i can only talk to people if i put them on speaker phone.

Any Help would be appreciated, as always, you guys are the best!

There were issues with some of the earpiece speakers on the Pearl. Try removing the battery first. If that doesn't work you may want to upgrade to the latest OS from Cingular/AT&T. If that still doesn't work then you have a bad earpiece and will need to get the device exchanged.

Earpieces have been known to go bad.

1. pull the battery while powered on to reboot. could fix it.

2. Do you still have warranty on the BB, return it.

3. get it fixed. Some sponsors on this board, i think BlackBerry Repair Shop - A full line of RIM BlackBerry repair services and BlackBerry parts for all BlackBerry handheld devices

If you purchased through AT&T, I believe you have a year warranty.

Shouldn't you have a one year manufacturers warranty, regardless of the carrier?

If you call your customer care, they should swap the handset out, but only after theyve gone through all their troubleshooting. If they then determine your handset needs replacement, they'll mail you a new one, complete with the neccesary items to return the broken one...

Its only in your 14 day "trial" period, that you would swap the phone in-store.

Yes, but sometimes if the device was not purchased from the carrier it can be tough to get warranty service, (especially if you're using an unlocked device on another carrier.)

If thats the case, RIM should still honor the 1 year manufacterurs warranty. Except in the cases where unlocking your device will void a manufacterurs warranty, which is true is some makers. Really not cool.

RIM doesn't deal directly with the customer for warranty replacements. Warranty must go through the carrier first.

And if they carrier cannot? Being that it was not purchased through a carrier, say it was purchased on a website retailer?

I wouldn't necessarily call this problem very "interesting".

In the future, might I suggest you using a more descriptive title for your thread so as not to call any unnecessary inquiries to your post.

Parts can be obtained for the device. If you can't get it covered under warrenty then you should repair it!
