Default Ugh! - Text entry glitch?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,
I've been lurking on your board for awhile, just now got around to registering, as I'm having a really aggravating issue and wanted to see if any of you have any input.
Just received a handset exchange from T-Mobile for my Pearl, and on the device I received, using the Multi-Tap text entry method, I have a really weird glitch happen about 50% of the time. (It's really hard to explain, so bare with me.) So, if I'm trying to type the second letter on a key, (for example a Y on the TY key), half the time I type it just gives me 2 of the first letter (in this example, what should be Y would appear as TT). This happens on all the different keys, not just the one. Hopefully that explanation makes sense? I've already called T-Mobile, and they walked me through all the regular stuff, Hard Reset, Master Reset, reload software, etc, but no one there seems to have a clue as to what's causing it, let alone how to solve it.
Anybody experienced this, or have *any* idea what to do about it????? It's driving me nuts going from being able to type really fast without hardly even looking, to having to retype every other damn word I enter. Going nuts over here!! Please help!!! Thanks in advance..!

Have you played with the Keyrate entry speed under Options>Keyboard/Screen? Might help if you are to speedy for it...

I started having this problem (or at least began noticing it) when i upgraded to 4.2.1.107.

I tried this. It sorta kinda helps.

Options>Screen/Keyboard>Key Rate and change it from "Normal" to "Slow".

It sorta kinda helps and may or maynot work.

you could try loading a diffrent carries OS onto your Pearl. See if its a software issue instead of a hardware one.

This is a bug in all versions of 4.2.1 OS. The only way to get rid of it is to downgrade the OS to 4.2.0. It's a simple process. TMobile doesn't offer the old OS's anymore. However, there are other carriers that do. Simply find one that still offers a 4.2.0 version and load that one. I recommend the 4.2.0.71 as it was a very stable OS.

Here's where to find the OS's. Just search through the GSM carriers for the 8100 Smartphone OS.

BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

When you find the one you want, here's what to do:

1. Download and install Desktop Manager to the PC if it isn't already.
2. Download and install desired handheld OS software from the above link.
3. Delete the file called vendor.xml located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB, run Desktop Manager. Then open Application Loader and you should be prompted to downgrade.
