Default Battery Life and Constant Freezing - DILEMMAS!!!

Please Login to Remove!

I'm having major issues with my Pearl now... I've had it for about 6 months, and in the past month, it's been crappin out a lot on me.

First, the battery life sucks. I'll charge my phone to 100% and within 3-4 hours, whether I've even looked at the phone or not, I'll be down to 20-30%.

About a month ago, my phone has been lagging in everything it does. A lot. The typing, the internet, the BrickBreaker game.... everything. It's really annoying when trying to write an email or text because I have to wait for every letter basically otherwise it doesn't write my sentence properly.

I don't have any major programs installed on it, except the color trackball which I've had for a while now... i dont have an extra memory card either.

What could be reason for all this annoyance?

Are you using any IM programs? These drain batteries.

Two things:

Free memory (Causes slownes)

Options>Status (what is your free memory?)

Alt + Esc (What programs are running?)

Let me know!

I'm using Google Talk that's all.

My free memory is 3039948 Bytes... i don't know what that means if that's high or not.

Programs running under Alt+Esc are: Phone, Options, Home Screen, Password Keeper, Memopad, Browser, Calander, Blackberry Messenger, Google Talk, and Messages

thanks for your help!!

Pull your battery and reboot, and it will free up some, post back the new number.

And read this:

Google Talk is probably your battery culprit. Always close using Esc or Menu>End (or close) not using the Red End key as it just places the battery in the background. If after the battery pull the memory is still low then review this thread:

It went up. You are still VERY low. Are you sure that you don't have other applications stored??? You really need to review the link I gave for Freeing Memory. Give the steps in it a shot, re-boot and then report back please!

OK, reading that article, it says to delete the unused languages. So when I went to the Advanced Options area, I see many languages I don't speak!! None of the ones under 'Input Support' and under 'Language and Input Support' I would keep perhaps English UK and Spanish. However, those 'Support' categories sound important.. and I don't want mess anything up on the phone!!! Can anyone confirm that that is what I should be doing?

Yes. This what you need to do. If later you decide to learn a few more languages you can always get them back. Hope this helps.

Just do as the FAQ article advises, and you will be safe. There is nothing in there that will mess your phone up.

Also, I advise you to get a $10 memory card to store your pictures, music, etc.
