Welcome to the forums.

No, there is no way to assign a ringtone to an unknown or private caller. The ring exceptions are assigned to entries in your Address Book...so if the number isn't in your Address Book....

Would this work? Assign tone A as default, and then go through the boring and laborious process of assigning everyone in the address book to tones B-Z Then all unknown should get tone A.

That or one of the call screener applications might work, look over in the Aftermarket Software section.

I don't think that's right. Go into your ringtones and scroll over the one you wish to assign as your default ringtone. Press the menu button and select the Set As Phone Tune. I'm pretty sure that this will assign this as your default ringer for all calls. Then you can set other ringers to specific contacts through the contacts function.

Hope that helps.

Yes, you can use a music ringtone as default (everyone except your address book pals who have their own) I use "Who Are You" by The Who!
