Hey all,

I am new to the forum, and these phones. I picked one up yesterday. Its very different.

However I am having trouble setting up the bluetooth with my mac. Is it compatiable? When I try sending mp3's and pictures the mac says the device (the pearl) does not have the neccasary services.

What does this mean?

Not sure about Mac, but here's how it works on my PC.

Whichever device I'm sending the file TO, I have to put that device in 'receiving' mode. For example, say I want to send a ringtone from my PC to my BB. I first browse to my ringtones folder on the BB, hit the menu key, and select "Receive Using Bluetooth". Now I go to the PC and initiate the sending of the file.

I've noticed that if I skip the step of selecting "Receive Using Bluetooth", I will get error messages similar to the one you mentioned.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the BB and the PC must be linked via Bluetooth before doing any of the above.

Sandman, welcome to the Forums.

This could help you:
Transfer files / media via Bluetooth - BlackBerryFAQ

As well as perusing the FAQs for other issues you might have.

Good luck.

(i'm doing this from memory, so bear with me)

turn bluetooth on on both devices (mac and bb).

link them, i usually link my macbook to the phone. the mac book will see the bb then send the request over to the bb. bb will say it received a request and show a password to verify, type that password into mac and hit connect/link/something to that effect and voila, they're linked.

once they're linked, navigate to the file you want to transfer from the bb and hit menu > send via bluetooth and it sends

i'm pretty sure i've missed a couple of steps, but i don't think they were major steps.

i'll try it and post again later tonight.
