Wirelessly posted (8100: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

i know that 4 will work if you have the latest BB OS on your phone. For that little, i would buy and try and then come back and tell us about it. Even if 6 doesn't work, i'm pretty sure you can get it to recognize 4 of it.

I would just ask the shop to confirm that it will work on your pearl. Once they give you confirmation buy it and try it outside the store. If it doesnt work (i.e. doesnt show up on you unit as the full 6gb (approx) capacity) turn around and go back in the shop saying 'no thanks, i'll have my money back'.

There is a member on here who tried a 6gb card and it didnt work for he/she. I think right now 4gb is the max supported. But you can try a 6 if you want. Its all upto you.

Default It's Official the 6gb Card works on the pearl

OK Guys It's Official the 6gb Card works on the pearl, Pics to follow, I received the 6gb micro sd card this morning but didn't have time to try it so i only had a chance when I got home, I inserted the card in my computer and formatted it and copied over all my information from my 2gb card through my laptop then I inserted the 6gb card into my Pearl and the card didn't work, After a frustrating 15 minutes I formatted the card in the pearl and there it was then i had to copy all the information from my laptop through the sync cable/pearl on to the card

So there you have it, "It Works"

When the SDHC cards were first debuted in april i think they showed the 4 and 8 gb cards. I am sure they will be coming out very soon. And dont think they are rumor.

Default 6GB on Pearl not working

I have the Sandisk 4GB MicroSDHC working fine on my Pearl 8100 (firmware 4.2.1.107) and tried installing a Sandisk 6GB. Everything was working fine until I put over 2.7GBs on it and the phone and card freaked out. After looking elsewhere online and on this forum I found that pretty much everyone had the same issue. A 6GB works but not if you put more than 2.7GBs on it. Every where I've read basically says the 6GB and 8GB won't work until the 4.3 firmware comes out. So I deleted the partition on the 6GB and sent it back to Amazon and told them the card was bad, they tested it and agreed and gave me my money back.
Currently I am so-so happy living with the 4GB (at least it works the way it should) and can't wait for the 4.3 firmware and then trying a 8GB card (don't waste your money on a 6GB when the 8GB are available now).
The only reason I even have the 4GB is so my 7 and 2 year old kids can watch the 36-40 ripped DVD movies I have loaded on it. That is the only thing I store on the 4GB card. If they can't find a movie to watch from the 36-40 loaded then they can play Sodoku instead.
Still I can't wait to load 70-80 movies on the phone. Try doing that on an iPhone. Typical movie on an iPhone is like 600MB each. Pixar "Cars" on my Pearl takes up only 155MB...of course it is a lot smaller screen.

I spent the day with a RIM coporate employee a few days ago. I asked him what is the max size of memory card supported on the 8130.

His response-

"256 gigs"

That is not a typo. I did not mean megs...the 8130 is ready to support 256 Gigs...whenever it is available.

Talking The Truth

The reason the 6-8 GB cards work on the Verizon Pearl 8130 is because it has the newest OS. Until the recently renamed (4.3) now 4.5 is released, all of us will be stuck with dirty 4GB Cards.

Running a 6gb card on a 8130 with Telus right out of the box. All good!

Oh man!! At least my Pearl is safe from technical obsolescence for a little while in that one area...
