Came home from work yesterday and my wife surprised me with a Red Pearl for my birthday. I've been wanting a PDA phone for a while but just haven't made the leap yet. This is all new to me because I've been using a relic phone for years. I'm actually considering donating it to a museum, LOL.

I have what is probably a dumb question but it's just a matter of convenience for me. I want something to be able to manage the addresses I have on my phone. I know that I can use my Outlook address book, and that's what I plan on, but my info off of my old SIM card is really in bad shape as far as organization. If there's some software out there that can help me with this, I'd like to know about it because my searches are turning up so much stuff, I don't know where to start.

Thanks,

J

Maybe I should add that if there is any "must have" software out there for me, what is it? I'm a computer guy but this phone stuff is foreign to me.

Greetings, Josh, and welcome to the Forums.

Load your SIM card to your new BB. Copy all those the SIM card addresses to the BB. (Address Book > SIM Phonebood > Copy all to Address book).

Sync your BB to Outlook.

In Outlook, edit and manager your contacts. It is much easier there, than on the BB, especially if you have a great number of them.

Then sync your Outlook again to the BB, and the BB should update with the new.

Applications, look over in the Aftermarket Software section for lots of it. Also in the 8100 for "favorite" or "must have" threads of lists of users opinions.

Good luck, enjoy.

Howdy-
I'm 2 weeks into my first BB, and you are in for a fun adventure. Personally, I wouldn't trust any software to manage my addresses. JSanders is spot on, get all of them off of your old phone into Outlook, and spend a couple hours there cleaning things up on your PC. I had an old old old Sony PDA, and I infrared'ed my numbers from my cell phone on to that, and then migrated the Palm addy book into outlook using PocketCopy. Worked great, although it's a little mixed up. You'll be amazed how many answers you'll find in the FAQ section here. Have fun!

Yeah, I bit the bullet and uploaded them and spent an hour or so updating. Then I screwed up the transfer and had to re-do quite a bit of the work. Oh well, I know better now.

Worked like a charm.

Now to figure out how to get all of these "preloaded" files off of here that are taking up space.
