Look in Options >Advanced Options >Service books and see if there is a service book for it. If so, delete it and the icon will likely go away.

so does this icon just constitute a weblink to Handango's wireless content site? has anyone actually clicked through?

(still not pleased with random content pushed through like this - new adware presented well into a service period which is not prompted by any manual update isn't too friendly.)
