In the past week, I've seen some weird issues with T-Mobile and my 8100. Out of nowhere it'll drop to lowercase 'edge' pretty frequently. By turning off wireless and turning it back on, it'll go uppercase 'EDGE'. Then, after a min of downloading email it'll spontaneously turn the wireless off on the phone!

Has anyone else seen this lately? Been happening since last Monday in Los Angeles, I'm using FW 4.2.1.107.

I to am in the LA area. I have seen this on and off over the last month. We have 5 8100's right now and have seen it on all of them.

That's great feedback, thanks. I'll call T-Mobile and ask for some credit, this is crazy. I just came back from Asia, so I was worried it was something to do with re-registering on their new towers here.

Does your wireless turn itself back on after 30 sec or so? I have signal issues around where I live, and the display changes constantly between GSM <--> edge <--> EDGE. Apparently the phone turns the wireless off / on by itself whenever the signal is bad to try to re-establish the link. I'm in the Austin, TX area.

Anybody else have similar issues or solutions to this problem?

I haven't tried letting it go for too long with wireless off, since I rely on the phone for business and wireless off = no income. Over the weekend I'll leave it and see if it reconnects automatically, but it only seems to dump the wireless after I turn it off then on manually. If I let it go all day, it doesn't drop wireless and turn it off.

I'm in the Philippines and I have same issue here, mostly in the town im living in. In other countries I dont have seen the problem.
So I assume its the flacky network here ...

Its goes from GMS - gprs - edge - EDGE and back to GSM
Sometimes only GPRS (probably not a 3g site).

Sometimes it just goes to off

Usually this happens when the network here is busy.
Nothing to worry about, just very annoying

ive had that same problem in Chicago too.... tmobile is currenty upgrading their towers to 3G for next years release, so there will be on and off problems over the next month or so
