Wirelessly posted (blackberry pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/160)

My first pearl had this issue. The only thing cellone told me is I could send it back to rim. My issue was that I dropped it in the bildge of a yacht that had some water in it for some reason so the indicators went off, even though only the keyboard got wet. I would call your provider or rim and are what they can do about it. I just bought a new one.

Check the charge port are all of the pins aligned right?

Try pullling the charger head out a touch or in fiddle with it some

Is it under warranty still? Is there any water/moisture exposure? Physical damage?

I have to ask because this has been the answer before....Is the BB completely charged? When it's completely charged the charging indicator goes away.

I am now getting my third replacement Curve. The first two have had the same problem. Plug in to either the home charger or car charger and the charging icon comes on for 2 seconds and then disappears and the battery does not recharge. I have taken the battery out and charged it in my old BB 8700g with the same charger and it charges to 100% every time. Tmobile says that there is no reported notice of this problem.

Your Circuit Board Is Been Damage ,this Is Caused Due To High Volts Of Electric Power While Using Your Car Charger. Do Not Connect Black Berry To Car Charger Before Starting Engine As Doing So Will Damage Circuit Board.

I got a new Blackberry Curve in December and the same issue regarding the recharging icon disappearing after a few seconds started happening. I got that unit replaced under warranty and the same issue just started happening with the second unit within 2 weeks. I am only using the wall-outlet charger which comes with the unit. I did notice though the other day the unit was making a very high pitched noise and I thought I had a button pressed down but that was not the case. Soon after I noticed the recharging icon was disappering after a few seconds. Any ideas?

I'm not so sure about this. I've been a mechanic for over 5 years and never seen or heard of this problem. The fuse panel does a fine job of keeping you safe from power spikes. If this "high volts on start up" was the case...you'd be frying head units, radar detectors, amplifiers, external satellite radio units, etc.

Chances are the charge port is bad. I went through numerous razrs that use the same size port as the pearl, port kept failing due to usage...charging, syncing, etc. You install/remove a plug from a little port like that, over and over, day after day...it goes bad. Some faster than others.
