I haven't seen anyone mentioning dust under the screen of their 8100. I took mine apart today, after having it only two weeks, and completely cleaned it out. Now there's dust particles under there again. Am I the only one experiencing this?

I never had this problem with my 7100, 7130, or 8703 models.

If you open the device you will likely get dust in it. Was there dust before you opened it? If there was you may have been able to warranty it. Now, having opened it, you may not be able to warranty the device.

Yes, there was a good bit of dust under between the outer plastic screen and the LCD panel. That's why I took it apart in the first place. I was very careful to make sure there was no visible dust anywhere and examined several times before reinstalling the screws. Of course, I'll admit there was no way for me to tell if every single speck was gone, but I used a good bit of compressed air. If there were any holdouts, they were stubborn.

I didn't remove any adhesive anywhere, so unless there's a hidden way for them to tell it has been opened, it went back exactly the way it came apart, with no problems at all.

i have the same problem but haven't taken the phone apart. Does anyone know how long the warranty lasts and how to go about getting a swap?

The warranty is one year and you would call your provider to make a claim.

that's funny, i just noticed some dust under my screen yesterday and was wondering how i was going to get it out. so that's a warranty thing hey? like they'll just replace it, for dust?

seeing as the operation of the phone is not affected by the 'dust', I doubt most carriers would allow a warrenty just for that alone. good luck trying though.
