Default Small ring around trackball?

Please Login to Remove!

My trackball doesnt work scrolling up anymore. I took it out to clean it and it worked for a bit. It has stopped working again and even after i tried cleaning it again. My problem now is that the small, flimsy little ring around the trackball wont snap in place anymore. I cant get it to stay down anymore and i dont wanna break it. I just put it back together without it and it seems to be working fine (except for the scrolling up of course). How vital is that little ring? I probably will be ordering another trackball all together though. I notice though that the picture of the OEM trackball from Cellular Nationwide Network website, the ball itself looks flat? Has anybody bought one from them and does it work ok?

i tried that and its a no go. My trackball barely even moves up. It feels like there is alot of friction thats keeping it from scrolling up.

I saw those websites. I'm wondering if anybody has bought a trackball from those sites?

heh i don't even have the ring no more i clean my ball
(lol)all the time cause i work in a machine shop and it gets really dirty now after the 598 time Ive cleaned it the ring broke one of the tabs off the bottom and i had a piece of toothpick shoved in it to hold er in place but that kept coming out and eventually it failed and i lost the ring so i went without it for awhile but it collects alot of dirt and now i have to do the dreaded ball dissection .Yes you can take the ball mechanism that comes out of your phone all the way apart to ta where you just have the rollers in front of you and thats why after cleaning it a few times its still not working for you but i would not recommend this to a novice or someone with no patience .As its very tedious and a big pain in the ass! but needs to be done to work correctly. Or just get a new ball for 9.99 like on the link above hmmm lol
