Default LED Indicator off prevents other alerts

Please Login to Remove!

Howdy,
I don't want any LED indicators on my Pearl, ever, period.
I've turned off the coverage indicator so now I just get message reminders.
Problem: When I set Repeat Notification = NONE, Number of Beeps 3, Number of Vibrations 1 in my Vibrate profile (as opposed to LED Flashing) I no longer get vibrate alerts for new messages. Happens with BIS, BES, Desktop, SMS, calendar - take your pick. Turn Repeate Notification = LED and I start getting vibrate alerts.

Question: This is counter intuitive and wondering if I have another setting somewhere or if I just need to leave it on and drill the diode out of the frame.

Welcome to the Forums.

A small piece of duct tape might wiser than a drill, of course that too will block your light sensor.

I don't know why your "Repeat Notification = NONE" kills the vibration alert. Take the battery and out and reboot, and check it again with LED off.

Thanks - yep, knew it was in the same housing as the sensor, the LED is separate from that from what I can tell. I was only semi-serious.

It's just that its one of the most annoying features, as if it was a mainframe that had to have blinking lights to let you know it was processing.

I've seen the "remove battery" comment a lot on this forum, it is the first recommendation to fix just about every problem presented. I guess I'll need to add that as a mandatory step when troubleshooting - kind of like the old Windows ctrl-alt-del.

Yep - hard reboot worked. Oddly I had two BES messages folders for same account and now only one, and the vibrate works.

Thanks - I'll save the duct tape for another day....
