Just to confirm, what version of Desktop Manager did you install?

if you have the latest version of the Desktop Manager, reboot both the PC and the BB (pull the battery to reboot the BB). Make sure the BB is then connected to the PC direct via USB to the computer, NOT through a USB hub.

Good luck, welcome to the Forum.

Ok i just did what you told me to do Jsanders. After my computer was done rebooting i connected the bb usb cord to the bb. I got this message: Verify that your handheld is connected to a powered USB charging source and that the proper USB driver is installed. Where can i get the drivers?

The drivers are installed during installation of the Desktop Manager software.

Have you tried a USB port on the back of the computer?

Default Problems also on Vista - Desktop Manager window dispappears

I'm also having a problem with my BB Desktop Manager on Vista. When I start the desktop manager the main window pops up and quickly disappears. I have the latest 4.2.2.12 as distributed from tmobile and I've also tried downloads from blackberrry's website as well (4.2 SP2) and I still can't get desktop manager to work. Funny, on a previous installation of Vista I had it working so I don't know what gives. I have UAC turned off so it shouldn't be a permissions problem. This is really getting frustrating! Also, I can't get Vista to work with my 8100 via bluetooth as an EDGE modem but it works like a charm on my macbook pro.

I noticed in vista that if I use single sign on, I can not get my DM to work. Disabling the credentials manager for vista with regards to the DM software fixed this.
