Default Blackberry and Gmail

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Folks

I'm a new Blackberry user (and a keen one!) - I have question about Gmail and the Blackberry.

Every time I send an email from my laptop the sent email appears on the blackberry as a new item.

How do I stop this happening?

Thanks

John

HOW-TO: Prevent G-mail "Sent Items" from being sent to your handheld.

same thing used to happen to me, but i started using the Gmail app and its solid. it doesn't have any real alert options, but it is way more accurate than push IMO.

"Way more accurate than push?"

How do you figure? Using GMail app you have to stop what you are doing, open the GMail app and "check" to see if you have email. With BIS setup it just shows up and is almost instant.

I'm not knocking the GMail app as it does have it's benefits and uses. However, I don't think "accuracy" has anything to do with it.

I agree, I'm not sure exactly what they meant by "accuracy". The g-mail app is AMAZING in the way it works. It is fast, clean, clear and extremely easy to use but it in no way is as simple as push email. Nothing ever will be.

Yikes! Didn't mean to offend anyone. Lol.

I guess I worded that wrong. All I meant was, I like how when I want to check my mail, all I have to do is open the app. But my AOL mail that I have pushed, has issues from time to time. Its seemingly more accurate to a guy like me.

I very rarely if ever get get really time sensative emails, so having the alerts and whatnot is kind of pointless for some like me.

I'll choose my words a little more carefully next time.

AOL has known issues. It's an AOL/RIM problem. I get all my GMail just fine pushed to the device. You're comparing apples and oranges.

I'm delighted with the way my BlackBerry Curve and Gmail work so seemlessly. It's a thing of beauty.

I had the same problem with my GMAIL account, and RIM Support sent this to me. Follow the instructions on modifying your email filters, as described, and you'll be set.

Totally different (but sort of related question).

I'm using BIS. Whenever somebody sends an email to my gmail account, I get it instantly. But my corporate account seems to be delayed for up to 14 minutes. So I tried having my corporate email forwarded to gmail so that I would get it instantly...anybody know why that doesn't work?

Even better...anybody know how to make it work?

If your corporate mail is not configured through a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then e-mail from your mailbox will be "polled" instead of pushed. I believe 15 minutes is the norm. What you may want to do is create a BlackBerry e-mail address, then have your corporate mail forwarded to the BlackBerry e-mail address. This way it will show up instantly.

Thanks for the response...I'll give it a try. Still wondering why, if I forward my corporate email to gmail, it's not showing up instantly. Gmail shows up instantly.

Again, thanks...I'll give it a shot
