Default Media Player Changing settings

Please Login to Remove!

I have 4.2.1.96 on my device and loaded the trial version of MediaPlayer. I get the following questions:
"The application mediaPlayer is attempting to access phone logs. Would you like to allow access?",
"The application mediaPlayer is attempting to change device settings. Would you like to allow this?" and
"The application mediaPlayer is attempting to reset the security timer. Would you like to allow this?"
Then when I try to play a video that plays in the BlackBerry player, I get the following error "Uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointerException and it bails out.
I downloaded it as a zip file and used winzip to extract it. Installed from that point using Application Installer on Desktop Manager 4.2.2.14.

Any ideas?

That's normal. Just check the box that says "don't ask me this again" and select "Yes."

Default That works

Works like a charm now - thanks.

To Dollars5 - some installation instructions or a FAQ would not be out of line on your web site. If I didn't have the help of this forum, I would have dumped the software with those issues and no documented answers.

Every application you install will ask these questions if it needs to access something. It's normal.

Default Why does it need access?

I'm using BBtracker on my 8800 and it only asks if it can access or create files to my media card in order to save or open gps tracks.

The first thing that comes to mind with these media players is that a 3rd party wants access to my phone logs, then maybe address book.....just to start sending spam to my contacts.

Welcome to the forums,
Your "Big Brother is watching me" theory is completely wrong here. The reason these apps need access to "Phone Logs" (which really means the Phone app)is so that it can tie into the phone app so that when an incoming call comes in the music will stop and then start again after the call is finished. If you don't allow access usually the apps won't work. Google Maps does the same thing with "Phone Logs." There is a feature where you search for a business and then you can call directly from the Google Maps application. If you deny these connections you will cause errors in the programs and can sometimes lock your device up. If you installed the application and are aware of what it is then it's ok to allow connections to everything the program asks.
