Well I just played with one and was pretty impressed. This thing is super light and does have that cheap plastic feel, but other than that I liked it.

i find it a bit sluggish at times, but overall im satisfied. still switching to a bold from AT&T when it comes out due to CPU and KB.

Two months ago, I saw a provocative movie on cable TV. It was called The Net, with that girl from the bus.

I have a user who is apparently is now in the upgrade period, though her contract is up in January. T-Mobile's site says it would cost $450 for her to upgrade her Pearl to the 8220. Does this sound right? That price sounds insane to me.

it shows $349 as the suggested retail, so $450 definately sounds off.

Got a chance to play with it last night while at work and i liked it alot. I won this device in a contest so it will be up for sale as soon as i get it. The price point of 199 with a 50 mail in rebate is a good price. I did find the applications to be slow when trying to launch them.

just got mine, now playing with it, lol

it was with 50 rebate and upgrade fee of 18 after all was around 230

what i have noticed so far is, device seems to be sluggish than my 8120. from time to time the speaker makes a static noise, its SUPER ANNOYING, it almost sounds like the speaker is about to blow out or something. hourglass come up a lot more often than any other BB i had, i had every single one that's been released in the US.

screen is not as bright as it should be, i checked the setting is at 100, but definitely the flip screen dimmer compare to any other BB.

so far these are the findings, any questions?

Hey focus88844 I am heading down to check one out soon. My TMO rep said it is very sluggish, also commented on the screen and said it seems cheaply built. What are your impressions of the build quality?

for 150, worth the money. its not a high end phone by any means. its sluggish , but not that bad, its annoying though none the less.

i finally figured out the static beep thing, turn all keypad sound off, also the trackball sound to mute, no more static noise.

the plastic used for the phone is matte black, doesnt look good at all, certainly have the cheap built quality feel to it.

check it out for sure, you might like it, i am keeping mine only because its a brand new design and its 150, and the new OS is good, but not that great.

one thing though, i was using the browser on google.com and searching for stuff just to test it, the search bar is longer than the screen width, the first letter i typed into the search bar doesnt show up which to me this is gotta be something RIM needs to get on and fix ASAP

Man, it's very sharp looking. Too bad it didn't come out before I bought my Curve or else I might be more interested since now my bank account won't allow me to pick one up. Oh well, maybe eventually!

I was thinking the same thing, it is basically the size of the 8100 series when closed, that just seems unusually long to me. But then again it's been 3 years since I've owned a flip phone...lol

about the same as the pearl closed. I was just so amazed at the weight of this thing, so light.

I was just in my local store playin with it a little bit...

The only thing right off the bat that I didn't like was the inset of the ball. I understand why they did it and all... So I know it's not really something that can be changed. I just had a hard time scrolling because of my nails :P

You know your bad when your nails decide the kind of phone you get...

yeah guys, glad i can help. i will get on with the width comparison shot real quick. the only issue i have with the phone is typing on this really takes some getting use to. the keypad is much longer therefore my thumbs had to move so much farther vertically than typing on any other BB. also holding the phone is way different the easiest way to hold the phone is with one hand grabbing the whole thing while the other hand only use thumb pretty much, unlike before pretty much both hands are equally used.

couple more pictures, sorry the light i used turned everything into red somehow, lol

couple more testing, the voice quality is very good, speaker is way louder than pearl or curve, microphone is easy to use and voice quality is top notch, the other end hears perfectly clear.

couple of things might be tough down the road, replacing the trackball on pearl curve and 8800 is fairly easy, now opening up this flip one might be tricky, everything is more compact and fragile.

hate it or love it, when you get an email, flip open the phone it will automatically open up the email on the screen for you to view, no need to go into messages folder and then...

Thanks for all of the pictures, looks awesome. I've been thinking about getting this phone but what exactly do most of you mean when you say sluggish, Is it still slow at times ? or were certain programs only slow the first time you tried them ?

Glad I can contribute, if there are specific pictures you guys want to see let me know. Meaning sluggish is kind of difficult to describe, especially perception shifts from ones opinion.I would highly recommend you go to store and play with it as to experience the speed on this thing. But most of all, not sound like a girl by any means, I used s lot of devices over the years go from nokia to palm win mobile and all existing bb. Typing on this thing is sort of awkward to get used to. I hope I will get use to it soon, lol

the button is not hard to get used to at all. if anything typing on the device is more annoying and hard to get used to.

i am very glad these pictures helps,

since i dont like to use USB port to charge or sync unless i have to, i ordered a charging pod through ebay, it was like 20 bucks shipped, not bad at all. once i get it i will update with some pictures as well.

the speed is not that horribly slow, but does take some getting use to, from time to time it will just lag and get skippy in a sense.

i did a comparison between my 8120 with 4.5 and 8220, my 8120 was much faster, 8220 takes about 15 to 20 more seconds to load up all the way through.

as far as theme, i cant find any L theme as of yet, the default theme is kind of annoying, because it categorize everything, IM folder, Download folder and so on. I use Viigo a lot and its quite annoying i have to go from the 5 icon front page to hit menu go to full icons then go to downloads and then find Viigo. but i am sure theme will hit the street anytime to remedy that.

I just played with one, had the wife come by the store on the way home, then ordered one for the her. I couldn't do it instore because of the discount plan I am on. ;)

It had OS 4.6.0.151, if I remember correctly. I was making comments comparing OS 4.5 for my Curve to OS 4.6 for the Flip and the salesman was lost.

I liked it. It felt good in my big monkey-paw hand and the keys were spaced well. I couldn't feel any sluggishness, but I am good about closing out programs when I am done. We compared our screens (Pearl and Curve) to the Flip and it is about the same width as the Pearl, but longer. The screen seemed clearer than the Pearl 8100 she has. Personally, I liked the customizable folders.

I expected it to feel cheap, like most flip-phones do, but it felt solid and I flipped it open and closed a bunch of times trying to feel "looseness".

Overall, I was impressed.

We picked one up for my g/f last night.

cons: yes it feels like cheap plastic compared to other BB's . That being said, it does not feel like it's gonna fall apart, it still feels solid.

It does seem slower than my 8320. Not that much slower, but it does seem to pause for a moment while things are happening.

pros: The trackball seems fine, the keyboard seems fine. I spent more time with it last night than she did setting things up and I got used to suretype pretty quick. The screen was great! I'm surprised that BGR disliked it so much it is very sharp and the colors are fine. I set up an email, wi-fi, and blackberry messenger quickly and with no problems.

Overall I'm impressed. It's not my Curve, but it seems like a good phone. My g/f seems to like it. The OS has me looking hopefully towards the Javelin as my next phone.
