Default I am having problems with the 8220 external screen - 12-03-2008, 08:23 PM

When I receive a incoming call, the phone doesn't display the number. Actually, the phone doesn't even light up. I don't know if this will end up fixing itself, or if it is common, but what should I do? Also. Does anyone know how where I go to prevent the phone from automatically answer calls, when opened?

For the external screen >Options>External Notifications> now set
backlight to always
Display Notif Details to Always
Message Preview to yes
Duration to Default
Manual Review mode to Standard
>Save

For the auto answer >Green Phone button>Menu Button>Options>General Options>Auto Answer Call to Never> save

Default Wow, Dream Rider, you are...Amazing - 12-04-2008, 07:55 PM

Thank you so much, Dream Rider. I never knew how to get to general options. Now I know. The only thing that bothers me is that I went to check the external notifications, and they were already set on the ones you had written. So I'm assuming, that my phone is messed up some how...

Contact your carrier for a replacement.

My external display was working fine, but it started displaying the same behavior yesterday. It is not showing anything for calls on the external display. Today it has progressed, and it will now show the power down screen on the external screen when the phone is closed, and it will not go away even though I didn't power down the phone. It will also freeze other random alerts on the external screen.

I updated the software to the latest 4.6.0.180 from TMO about a week ago, but this problem just started. I am in the process of wiping the handheld right now to see if that resolves the issue.

Backing up my 8220, wiping it, and then restoring resolved this problem for now. If this is going to happen every couple of weeks it's going to get really old.
