Default OS: 8220 4.6.0.404/4.6.0.236 (Multilanguage) - 02-16-2009, 11:25 AM

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl Flip (TM) 8220 smartphone
This will load to any carrier's 8220 device by following the directions below.
This OS contains English.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.404 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.404
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.236
* Software Platform: 4.1.0.90
* File name: 8220M_PBr4.6.0_rel404_PL4.1.0.90_A4.6.0.236_Person al_Argentina.exe
* File size: 88.76MB

Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...8EFEFD0ECC3588

Instructions for installing on ANY 8220(regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Note For Advanced Users Only: If you plan on deleting the cod file for pre-installed media your exterior LCD will not function correctly. This does not pertain to people doing normal installs. You will not be affected.

For the previous version of this OS:

Thanks Bolin.

I used this to update my 8220 last night. I can't say that I notice much difference in the key lag when I go to dial a phone number.

I've had a few "uncaught exception" errors which I did not have before.

Worth noting that the final part of the upgrade took quite some time (20 - 25 minutes easy) for the phone to "reboot" - during that time I had the white screen and clock. Be patient and don't disconnect or reset the phone.

The previous .222 release gave me a lot of dropped calls. I'm hoping this one is better.

Have people been finding the errors that started occuring after the .180 release?
I had to downgrade the wife's 8220 to .180 to get rid of the errors. I haven't had much success with the newer builds getting rid of the errors. It's pretty frustrating.

tons of trash after the .180 builder.
always get "uncaught exception" errors when startup. can not open the text message without pulling out battery for couple times.

it is no doubt that the best version is .180

This latest release is much better as far as I can tell, not having the dropped call problem that the previous release had as well as it hasn't locked up yet. I still had the camera come on during a call once so far since I did the upgrade.

Is this it? is this our final upgrade of the OS?

If so... Im a bit disappointed....

I still have buggy (though passable) mp3 player experience... specially when used in shuffle mode... (incorrect view of list of music in this mode, also music stops after just playing one if I skip back music... or even go crazy and shuffle between few songs instead of the whole list)...

I also lost the ability of edit folders (change the icon) I just have the standard folder icon without colors or objects to differentiate....

(all this happens on .222 or higher)

Some of the songs I put on the BB music library will not show up after I unplug it from the computer... they will only show at "all songs"... and the workaround is to take out the microSD card and then put it back in.
I WANT A FIX TO THIS...

Sorry for complaining too much... I really love it.. but I could love it a little more...

Try wiping it and reloading the OS:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.
