Default Latest OS: 8220 4.6.0.452/4.6.0.267 (Multilanguage) - 05-12-2009, 11:44 PM

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl Flip (TM) 8220 smartphone from Orange Spain.
This will load to any carrier's 8220 device by following the directions below.
This OS contains English.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.452 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.6.0.452

Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.6.0.267
  • Software Platform: 4.1.0.98
  • File name: 8220M_PBr4.6.0_rel452_PL4.1.0.98_A4.6.0.267_Orange _Spain.exe
  • File size: 88.76MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...D281241FA66502

Instructions for installing on ANY 8220(regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Note For Advanced Users Only: If you plan on deleting the cod file for pre-installed media your exterior LCD will not function correctly. This does not pertain to people doing normal installs. You will not be affected.

all firmware can be loaded on to any carriers (same model of course) blackberry. this does not "unlock" your berry. this only upgrades the operating system

Updated to this version a couple of days ago, and am overall pleased. The slight lag that I had when opening apps on .180 seems to have disappeared. No new hiccups that I have seen.

1st Step in Troubleshooting: Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan?
2nd Step in Troubleshooting: Pull the Battery.

I installed it and found it killed my battery in less than a day. Anyone else had this problem?

No battery issues here. Do you have any 3rd party apps open?

I have it installed and run well since since yesterday. Will report if there is any problem - so far so good!

Thanks.
The OS upgrade will not enable this. You will need to get your phone unlocked for it to opperate on other GSM-based networks.

Here is a link that will help you with the unlocking process:

Upgrading 8220 (Wife's Phone) from version 4.6.0.236

Hopefully this will fix the latency issues with the Blackberry.

Can someone check if this upgrade work as .180 regarding music playback...:

- Having the Auto-Playlist working
- Being accurate when Showing "List Panel" (instead of album art) when on shuffle mode...

This is important to me because the Flip is my main mp3 player and the .180 version is the best for music playback (though its slow) and newer upgrades gave me errors I already mentioned....

To be more specific, the second error is that when on shuffle mode the phone actually shows the name of the track in the list as it was playing in order, instead of showing the actual name of the song....

example:

1. Love song
2. TNT
3. Whatever

If I play shuffle mode, the first song could be TNT but in the List shown as "Show Play List" it marks "Love Song" for being the number 1 on the list....

I was on .236, having strange problems with messages mostly. Having changed, it's working great (though only two days of use so far).

I don't use my flip for music, so can't comment on music player problems.

I know after an upgrade there can be lag on the phone for a while, IMO after this upgrade the lag to do anything was so bad for a few hours that the phone was almost unusable, but that's sorted itself out now.

Well, after using .267 for three weeks, problem started with frequent auto-rebooting without reason. Can anyone point me to .222 for downloading? need to go back and wait. Thanks.
