Even better - since the 8220 has wifi, you can connect it via any free wifi hotspot and send and recieve texts, emails, and messenger messages for free as well as make phone calls if you have the TMobile $10 per month wifi calling plan. I was in Europe for 12 days last fall and just got back from 10 days in Mexico and it worked like a charm. To avoid inadvertent roaming charges, turn off the option for "mobile network" under "manage connections" and just leave the "wifi" box checked.
