Not necessarily! I have heard of a lot of happy endings (even on for my sons curve in the pool). Time and letting it dry are key. You might get lucky. Here is the FAQ on it which you may had already read. A nice toasty car dash with the windows up on a sunny day will speed the process.

not necessarily. I went wakeboarding with my brand new Curve 2 for about 45 minutes before i realized it was in my pocket... I let it dry in the sun for a day then inside for another and it is working just fine now.

I'll leave it on my dashboard for a few days, i live in Orlando and the sun is a bit brutal. But it bothers me that i can actually see water inside the screen now, like enough that it still swashes around.

Several electronics techs suggest a thorough soaking in 100% rubbing alcohol followed by several days of drying. This method will remove any soap residue as well. The most import part of any technique however, is time. NOt too mention what damage may have occurred during the actual water contact.

how do i get the water out of the screen?

You can take it apart but you will need tools. The heat in the car should not be an issue. I live in Sacramento and it was 104 when I baked my kids in my car. You just need to give it time to dry.

i googled how to take it apart and apparently the screen housing is held on by double sided tape so that makes me nervous about putting it back together.

but i'm worried the water in there is causing more damage, i mean some parts must be saturated right now. But i guess by now all the damage that could have been done already has.

My suggestion is to call your local gun dealer and ask if they sell desiccant packages. These are the things you find in the shoe boxes at the local WalMart. It is a moisture absorbant and should help. When I worked retail I used to collect them rather than throw them out and I would toss them in my gun safe to help keep the moisture out.

I've read about a lot of successes with the rice trick, but my sister tried it and discovered it made quite a mess with the rice dust. SO, if you use the rice make sure you just set the device on top of the rice in the bag and not down into the rice.

Put it in a bag of uncooked rice and close the bag. Let it sit there in a sunny location, stop fiddling with it, and be patient. And I hope you removed the battery by now.
